While having conversations with people about their personal digital health challenges a few themes have emerged. Here are ten signs you may be living a digitally imbalanced life.
- You take better care of your LinkedIn than you do your physical health.
- You find yourself irritated when someone else is inaccessible via phone, email or text.
- You say yes to social events you don’t want to go to because of the photo opportunity.
- You’re unsure of the exact amount of debt you’re in (or the exact amount of cash you have) because you haven’t checked.
- You open your phone to check the time and are still there 2 hours later.
- You can‘t keep track of your passwords and reset them more than you would like.
- Text messages have become a chore and receiving an email feels like an attack.
- There are days you feel like throwing your phone out a window.
- You turn to passive online consumption (scrolling, browsing, shopping, gaming) when you feel tired.
- Instead of bringing direct closure to a relationship, you hope it fizzles organically and may resort to ghosting.
