While having conversations with people about their personal digital health challenges a few themes have emerged. Here are ten signs you may be living a digitally imbalanced life.

  1. You take better care of your LinkedIn than you do your physical health.
  2. You find yourself irritated when someone else is inaccessible via phone, email or text.
  3. You say yes to social events you don’t want to go to because of the photo opportunity.
  4. You’re unsure of the exact amount of debt you’re in (or the exact amount of cash you have) because you haven’t checked.
  5. You open your phone to check the time and are still there 2 hours later.
  6. You can‘t keep track of your passwords and reset them more than you would like.
  7. Text messages have become a chore and receiving an email feels like an attack.
  8. There are days you feel like throwing your phone out a window.
  9. You turn to passive online consumption (scrolling, browsing, shopping, gaming) when you feel tired.
  10. Instead of bringing direct closure to a relationship, you hope it fizzles organically and may resort to ghosting.
